Who’s jothi?

Jothi's a guy who's inordinately curious about all manner of things. He's got academic qualifications in chemistry, physics, mathematics, philosophy, psychology, economics, political science, history, and the sociology of education. He's studied, lived, and worked in several countries, and as a result speaks several languages. He used to be a college professor, and has taught all manner of things. He's also worked as a professional photographer, a dj, a bar-tender, a research scientist, a wild-life biologist, a clinical psychotherapist, a theatre lighting-designer, and a musician / percussionist. In addition, he part owns a chain of bars and restaurants, and manages a variety of industrial investments. His mottos: Live life to the fullest; Never allow limits to be set for you; Be willing to try almost anything at least once; Never let your child-like curiosity be ground out of you; Live so that you can die without regrets; Be as kind & as gentle as you can; Try and leave this a better place than you found it.

Is genetic engineering ‘unnatural’? Is this a valid and sound basis upon which to proscribe it, or to limit its scope and exercise? What does it mean to say a thing is unnatural in a scientific context? What are the real reasons one ought to fear new technology?
